George Wallace argued for freedom for the states to do as they liked, but no one should be allowed to ignore the rights of individuals and we should all be treated equally. Though George Wallace and Dr. Martin Luthe wanted freedom, they showed it in very different ways. King was against segregation and was nonviolent in the process of trying to get equality for everyone. Meanwhile Wallace was for segregation and although he didn't directly use violence he had an undertone for it.
Both minorities and whites who live in racially divided communities are exposed to higher levels of pollution than those who live in more integrated areas.
King preached that segregation was harmful not only to black Americans but also to the nation as a whole. He died before the modern environmental movement, but a growing body of research around pollution and health shows that his belief about segregation hurting everyone extends to the environment as well.
