Dear,

Hello, I hope you are good. This letter was written long time ago. I'm fifteen years old right now. I live with my parents and I am alarmed at the rate with which we are consuming power. I want to change certain things so that we have a more sustainable future.

My energy consumption-

From morning to evening we consume energy. The alarm which wakes me up, the tube light and fan in my room, the loudspeaker in school, the smart board and endless other things are functional only because we have a source of energy. I realized that I'm a student and my personal consumption of energy is way more than I thought. Almost everyday I read articles of our deadly future if we waste energy.

Excessive use of energy puts our planet under great stress. Excessive use of electricity is depleting the water table as well. The sky is never clear due to vehicular and industrial pollution. Not to mention the level of green house gases which is at an all time high. There's no doubt the planet is in danger.

To combat the problem I have decided to take some simple steps which help to save energy. I will use less energy on a daily basis. I'll try to use sunlight whenever it's possible. I think motivating my family and friends to use electricity judiciously will create a positive impact. I'll motivate my parents to pool cars whenever they go for work. The government has also taken some steps like installation of solar cells, launch of solar vehicles, afforestation etc which will eventually help the environment.

I don't how useful these steps would be reduce my consumption of energy, but a small steps are often giant leaps for mankind.

I hope that these little steps improve the condition of our planet in future.

Yours younger self
