The basic cause of Sound is the vibration of particles. Vibrations of particles cause vibration in the medium in which the particles are present. The medium may be air, water, etc, which help in the propagation of the sound waves.

When the particles that are present in the air are subjected to vibration, the sound waves that are produced by the vibrations travel as longitudinal waves in the air. When these longitudinal waves reach the human ear, they cause vibrations at the eardrum. These vibrations can then be heard as sound.

This is an interesting question.

Different sounds are produced all around us. The sound is produced by vibrations. Vibrations are fast to-and-fro movements. When air vibrates, a sound is produced. We hear the sound when it reaches our ears. Vibrations are caused by mediums like air, water.  Sounds are of different types. Some are pleasant while others are unpleasant.

Hope this will prove helpful.
