look...all you have to understand is that while writing or talking in an indirect speech,u talk as a repoter...for example if the sentence is krishna:"i will go and play ma.."
and u uav to change it to indorect u have to write....krishna told his mother that he would go and play
(dont for get the inverted commas if u hav to write on direct speech)
1. SON Rule
→ In this rule, first person change into subject of the sentence, second person change into object of sentence and third person does not change.
1st Person → Subject
2nd Person → Object
3rd Person → No Change
2. Change of Tense
→ In this rule, all the formula of present tense converts into past tense when we convert direct into indirect speech.

Past perfect has no change of tense. Past perfect continuous also has no change of tense. "Shall/will" converts into "should/would". "Can" converts into "could". "May" converts into "might".
