Actually elements are madeup of similar kinds of atoms and the properties of element appears due to the interaction between the atoms of that specific element.
Where as in case of compounds :compounds are madeup of different kinds of elements and the property of compound is shown by the interaction of all the elements present in the compound which form molecules of that compound.
And finally properties of compound depends on molecules
