It is a redox reaction as both reduction and oxidation process occurs.
Here BaSO4 is reduced and C gets oxidised.

In this reaction both the oxidation and reduction process occurs.

4co-8e- à 4C11 (oxidation) and S + 8e- às-II (reduction).

So the BaSO4 + 4C ---> BaS + 4CO is an oxidation- reduction (redox) reaction.

The C gets oxidised and the BaSO4 is reduced.
