bassanio is shown as a spend thrift man who lives on borrowed money by Shakespeare.He loves portia and want to marry her but according to his father he had to go through casket system to win portia. for going Belmont he took money in antonio name.before leaving for Belmont he arrange a masque and dinner party for his friend and helping lorenzo to elope. he also provided new dress to lancelot who join his service newly.
