There are two main forms of energy, namely; potential energy and kinetic energy.

Potential Energy is any type of stored energy. Examples of potential energy include;  chemical, nuclear, gravitational, or mechanical.

Kinetic Energy is energy that is found in movement. Examples of kinetic energy include; electricity, motion, electromagnetic waves and sound.

Batteries are a form of chemical potential energy. Chemical energy is energy stored in the bonds of the atoms and molecules of chemical compounds. This form of energy is released when a chemical reaction takes place. Other examples of stored chemical energy include biomass, petroleum, natural gas, and coal.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Disposing off batteries is a disadvantage of using batteries, making it a disadvantage of the chemical form of energy. Disposing off batteries leads to soil and water contamination because residues of batteries have chemical toxins and heavy metals that are dangerous to life.

Battery disposal is a disadvantage of SOLAR ENERGY

Wind and solar are very similar when it relates to batteries. A standalone system is going to need batteries, while a grid-tied system will not.
In an area where the wind is very constant and reliable, batteries could be smaller. so solar energy is the appropriate response, but that would be an incomplete answer, as most solar electric systems are tied to the grid, with no batteries.
