GIVEN,

the emf of battery(e)= 16V , Length of potentiometer wire (L)=3m

TO FIND,

The potential difference between two points discrete by 50 cm on the wire will be?

S OLUTION,

HERE, Along the wire of uniform cross-section

e∝L , emf varies directly with the length of the wire.

Let V be the potential difference across a portion of the wire of length

given, L= 0.5 m

\frac{V}{e}= \frac{0.5}{3} \\\\V= \frac{0.5*18}{3} ( solving the equation)

V= 3V

HENCE THE POTENTIAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO POINTS SEPARATED BY 50CM IS 3V.
