In 1764, The Battle of Buxar took place between the combine force of Mir Qasim , Shuja-ud-Daulah and Shah Alam II on one side and the British on the other side.

Battle of buxar- Mir Qasim decided to form an alliance with Nawab shuja- ud- Daulah of awadh and Mughal emperor Shah Alam second ,who was then living in Awadh.

The British defeated these combined forces at buxar in 1764.

By this victory , the British established unquestioned authority over bengal, and considerable influence over the ruler of awadh and Mugal emperor.
