the force of friction is a force which acts opposite to the direction of motion of an object
the factors which affect the force of friction and normal reaction, force acting on the body and the coefficient of friction of the surface

The force which opposes the motion of one body over another body in contact with it is called the 'force of friction'.

The factors affecting the force of friction are -
1. Rough surfaces
Ex. If you roll a ball on a carpet it will move around slowly.

2. Smooth surfaces
Ex. If you roll a ball on a smooth surface, it will roll on it very fast.

3. Lubrication
Ex. By lubricating a substance the surface becomes smooth and thus friction reduces. Like in a machinery.

4. Polishing
Ex. By polishing a surface, friction on it reduces. Like a new cardboard is highly polished for a smooth game.

6. By making bodies spherical
Ex. Wheels help in moving fast because spherical bodies reduce friction.

Hope this helps :-)
