BE THE FIRST TO BE BRAINLIEST.

Its said few crystals of potassium permanganate can colour a large volume of water that is 1000l so for example if we add some crystals of potassium permanganate in 1000l of cold water the crystals which settle down began to divide into particles and then finally the whole solution get the colour so the particles tend to move upwards so the particles move large distances that is from downwards to upwards but in the case of cold food the particles of cold gases produced by the cold food cannot travel more distances so that we cannot sense the smell of cold food from considerable or large distances but in the first case the cold particles can travel more distances but in the second case the cold particles cannot travel more distance. I am really confused about the distance travelled by particles in two cases

This is because in first case the medium is liquid and diffusion of solids take place faster in them. But heat too increases the kinetic energy of the particles. So we can smell food only if it's hot because it is in gaseous atmosphere.
