Why does particles collide?? Is it due to random motion or high speed???

Particles move rapidly in all directions but collide with each other more frequently than in gases due to shorter distances between particles. ... With an increase in temperature, the particles gain kinetic energy and vibrate faster and more strongly.

hope it helps..

Particles collide due to randam motion in gases or liquid states. Due to gaining kinetic energy, they vibrate faster and more strongly. Hence, this also increases their speed of movement.
