Beaker contains acid and water in the ratio 1 : x. When 300 ml of the mixture and 50 ml of water are mixed, the ratio of acid and water becomes 2 : 5. What is the value of x?

According to the question

1/ x+1 ×300 ÷ x/x+1 × 300 + 50 = 2/5

300 ×5 = 2 { 300x + 50 x + 50}

1500 = 700x + 100

1500 - 100 = 700x

1400 = 700x

1400 / 700 = x

2 = x

So the value of x be 2
