One research work in 2012 carried out BY University of Queensland which revealed that bear can protect you from 90 to 95 per cent of the sun's harmful UV rays with a UPF of up to 21.

The study's also say that though beards will never be as sun-safe but certainly may be a factor in blocking UV rays.
