Hi

This is a line from the poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost.

The poet has cited the example of two roads in the poem, which are metaphoric representations of the various choices we all have to take on some or the other day in life, and to lay emphasis on how important it is to take right decisions after a thoughtful consideration of its pros and cons, which will in turn decide our fate and future.

The poet is described to be in a dilemma. He was continuing on his path, when he came across a fork (where a road diverges), and now had to decide on which path he should continue.

He tried to look as far as possible to see which road would benefit him the most. But he was unable to do so, reflecting how the life is full of uncertainties and that we can't predict the future.

He then thought about both the roads. The first road was a common choice of all the people who wished to lead a simple life and follow the rat race. The road is described as being worn out, because it was the choice of many, and so many had walked on it.

The other road, which he thought had better claim on him, was taken by those tvalient travellers who wished to take risks and move ahead in life. And so the path was walked on by very few, due to which it was comparatively grassier. The phrase 'Because it was grassy and wanted wear' portrays that the second road, being less chosen, invited people to walk on it, i.e., encouraged entrepreneurship, and wear it out, just like how the people had worn out the other road.

Then, he finally decided to take the second road, and leftthe first one for some other day. But he knew that he will never get the chance to retrace his steps, i.e., walk on the first road. This highlights the importance of taking the right decision, and if wrong decision is taken in haste, the consequences can be wide ranging, and we may never get the chance to start again from our beginning.

Eventually, the poet tells with a sigh that his decision has made all the difference in his life.
