Beer is obtained from the (c) barley.

  • Beer is obtained from the malted barley.
  • It has about 3-6 per cent alcohol content. Brewer's yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is used to help form the beer.
  • The yeast causes the malted barley to ferment, which is the dried Barley grains which germinate. This then results in ethyl alcohol forming alongside carbon dioxide. It also adds its characteristic taste and flavour to beer.
