Let number of bees be x

So root (x/2) flew out.

Also 8x/9 Also flew out.

So Remaining = x-(root(x/2) + 8x/9)

= x/9 - root(x/2) = 2 (Given)

So let x = 2.y^2.

So new eqn :

(2.y^2)/9 - y = 2

So 2y^2 - 9y - 18 =0

On factorising :

(2y+3)(y-6) = 0

So y = 6 since y is whole positive number.

So x = 2.(6^2) = 72 bees

So there are 72 bees in the swarm.
