Step-by-step explanation:

present age of father be x

present age of son be y

present age of father is 2 times of his sons age

x = 2y

father's age before 8 years = x - 8

son's age before 8 years = y - 8

father was 2.5 times the age of son before 8 years

x - 8 = 2.5(y - 8)

x - 8 = 2.5y - 20

x - 2.5y = - 20 + 8

x - 2.5y = - 12

substitute x = 2y

2y - 2.5y = - 12

- 0.5y = - 12

0.5y = 12

y = 12/0.5

y = 24

x = 2y

x = 2(24)

x = 48

therefore son's present age = 24 years

father's present age = 48 years

hope you get your answer
