the car could travel 250km. since it traveled 150km with 15 litres of petrol, wich is equivalent to 10 km for litre. So 25 litres could travel 250 km.

150km /15 litres = 10km for litre.

25litres  * 10 = 250KM

According to the question initial volume of petrol present in the tank equals to 40 litres.

After travelling for 150 km only 25 litres of petrol was left which means 15 litre of petrol was utilised for covering the distance of 150 km.

i.e. 1 litre of petrol per 10 km distance.

∵Now as we know 25 litres of petrol is left so the car can travel 25 times 10 km i.e. 25×10 = 250 km. [Ans]
