before carrying out the test for presence of starch in a leaf ,the leaf is kept in alcohol contained in a beaker and boiled over a water bath this step is required to

the answer is option b

it is so because when chlorophyll is dissolved the leaf becomes colourless and when you apply indicator on the leaf you will easily detect the colour change due to presence of starch
