LAW OF OCTAVES: Newland observed that every 8th element has properties similar to the first element just as in the octave of music(8th note resembles 1st one).He arranged them in increasing order of ATOMIC MASSES.

Ex: Li    Be    B      C      N      O       F

    Na     Mg   Al     Si     P       S     Cl

It means that F and Cl have similar properties and the difference between them is 7.
