Igneous rocks are the primary rocks, which form both sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Igneous rocks are formed by cooling and solidification of magma, formed on or beneath the Earth's surface. While on the Earth's surface, igneous rocks are denuded and the minerals get deposited in low-lying areas. These sediments,on becoming hard and compact, form sedimentary rocks. The igneous and sedimentary rocks, under intense heat and pressure, form the metamorphic rocks. Metamorphic rocks melt to form magma, which cools to form the igneous rocks.
