Answer:

Let:  D = Daniel's age

       B = Ben's age

Given:  Ben is 30 when Daniel is 2.

           Ben is 28 years older than Daniel

                30 - 2 = 28

Therefore, at anytime:  B = D + 28

We want to know their ages when B = 3D:

                 B = 3D

                 B = D + 28

Therefore:  3D = D + 28

                3D - D = 28  subtract D from both sides

                2D = 28  combine like terms

                D = 14  divide both sides by 2

Therefore, when Daniel is 14, Ben will be 14 + 28 = 42 which is 3X Daniel's age.

Finally, it would be 12 more years (14 - 2 = 12) before Daniel will be 14.

The answer is 12 years

Answer:

12 years

Step-by-step explanation: 30+12=42

                                             2+12=14

                                             42/14=3
