As a Muslim, I myself wanna say so that Ramadan fasts are actually not for any benefits. It is for the people to realize the conditions of those who don't have anything to eat or wear, The Poor.
In this month we fast and pray to Allah and seek his blessings for us and our beloved ones.We give food and clothes to poor who in return give blessings to us too.
The same question could have been asked without the word Ramadan, cause the general fasts that people keep A.K.A Diet, is for maintaining there body shape.
Just like Karava Chauth is kept for the husband's long life in Hinduism, in the same way Ramadan fast are kept for a cause, a reason, a realization about the poor and his/her life.
Surely it does benefit us by awakening the good in us, but it's intention is not for any sorts of physical benefit.
