Augustus Hicky. He was in jail for 2 years because of the information spreaded by his newspaper. He critically accused the nueneces of Governer General Warran Hastings.

Bengal Gazzete was the first Indian paper.
It was in Bengali language. It was edited and published by James Augustus Hicky.

The Bengal Gazzete was a liberal paper.
It was not influenced by the British officials.
It was like a usual paper. It made cartoons
criticising the East India Company.

At last Warren Hastings had to arrest Hicky. He freed Hicky after 3 years.

Hence the Bengal Gazzete was a liberal paper.
