- The idea of arrangement of atoms in benzene was obtained in dream by scientist KEKULE, when he is saw a snake biting its own tail.
- Benzene was chemically created first by Michael Faraday.
- Benzene is an extremely stable molecule due to localisation of π electrons along the whole ring in the form of RESONANCE.
Uses of benzene:
- Benzene can be used to make other chemicals like nitrobenzene, alkylbenzene, etc.
- Small amounts of benzene can be used to produce rubbers, detergents, chemicals, herbicides, pesticides and explosives.
