Sodium chloride is highly insoluble inbenzene. ... Since benzene is a non-polar solvent, there would be no ion-dipole bonds between the ions andbenzene. The NaCl ionic lattice is too strong, and the dissolving process is energetically unfavorable.

As sodium chloride is polar in nature and benzene is non polar molecule therefore it is insoluble in benzene but as water is a polar solvent and therefore sodium chloride is soluble in water but insoluble in benzene.
