Isopropyl benzene is also called as Cumene, which is the product that is formed from the Friedel−Crafts reaction.

The carbonium ion is formed in the Friedel−Crafts reaction. When n-propyl chloride is allowed to react with Benzene, in the presence of anhydrous Aluminium chloride (AlCl₃), then n-propyl carbonium ion is formed. This n-propyl carbonium ion gets converted to a stable isopropyl carbonium ion along with the formation of cumene or isopropyl benzene.
