• Benzenze and toluene from a
a nearly ideal solution, at 313 k. The vapour pressure of pure benzene & toluene are 160 mm
of Hg a 60 mm of Hg respectively calculate
the partial pressure of benzene and toluene
& the total pressure over the following
solution
(1) containing equal weight of benzene
and toluene
(2) containing 1 mole of benzene& 4 moles of toluene (3) containing equal molecules of benzene & toluene.

Answer:

P(benzene)=50 mm of Hg

P(toluene)=30 mm of Hg

P(total)=80 mm of Hg

Explanation:

mole fraction of both toluene and benzene comes out to be same that is 0.5

and we know the formula P(pure)*mole fraction= Partial pressure just pt the formula and you will get the answer.
