Educational psychology (or educational psychology) is a branch of psychology that is dedicated to the study of human learning and teaching in schools; understands, therefore, the analysis of the forms of learning and teaching, the effectiveness of educational interventions in order to improve the process, the application of psychology to that purpose and application of the principles of social psychology those organizations whose purpose is to instruct. Educational psychology studies how students learn, sometimes focusing attention on subgroups such as gifted children or those subjects suffering from a specific disability. The current now receives greater acceptance considers educational psychology as an independent discipline, with its own theories, research methods, problems and techniques can be partly understood through its relationship with other disciplines and being strongly linked to psychology, this being similarly comparable to that between medicine and biology, or engineering and physical relationship. Although the terms "educational psychology" and "school psychology" are often used synonymously, theorists and researchers prefer to be identified as educational psychologists, while professionals specifically perform their work in schools or school-related tasks are identified as school psychologists. Other professionals advocate the suppression of this specialty by the existence of another body of professionals better prepared in time and content and are graduates of pedagogy and psychology.
