Santhals mainly lead a life of hunters-gatherers. However as the British captured their land, they retreated into the interiors of the forest, farther away from the towns and cities but when the British, with the help and support of local landlords, soight to usurp even these lands, then the santhals rose in revolt. Santhals were led by Kanhu, Bhairo and Sidhu.
