berylium oxide is amphoteric where as magnesium oxide is basic oxide. Justify.

Beryllium oxide dissolves in both dilute acids and alkali so it is amphoteric
but magnesium oxide does not dissolve with alkalis so it is not amphotric and thus it is basic oxide.
