Besides statement of scale, there are two other methods of representing the scale on a map.

The first method is Representative Fraction or R.F. where the scale is denoted by a fraction or by a ratio.

The second method is the line or linear scale.

Here, a special scale is present at the bottom of the map which can be used to measure the distance on the map.
