Methane is also a greenhouse gas other than carbon dioxide (CO2).

Methane is a primary constituent of natural gas. It absorbs outgoing from the earth and thus contributes to the greenhouse effect and so methane is also considered as a greenhouse gas.

Methane is twenty times more in trapping heat as compared to CO2.
Methane remains in the atmosphere for approximately 10 years.
