• Literary sources are segregated  into 3 categories; secular, foreign accounts, & religious. Literary sources tell us about the social, political, religious, & cultural & economic life of our ancestors.
• The majority of the old manuscripts are in nature religious. There is also a large body of secular literature on medicines, science, & mathematics.
• During the ancient & medieval periods many learned people traveled around the globe. They accounted for what they had found in these overseas territories. For example, Roman, Greek, & Chinese travelers had come to India and revealed their things.
