The momentum of an object is defined as the product of its mass and velocity.

momentum = mass x velocity

or p = mx v

where p = movementum

m = mass

v = velocity

For example, greater force is needed for stopping or pushing a heavier body than a lighter body for a given speed.

Momentum of a tennis ball is greater than a ping pong ball moving at the same speed because of their mass difference.

Momentum of a bullet thrown at moderate speed is less than a bullet fired from a gun which can pierce through layers of an object.
