An example of species going extinct due to human intervention is the Tasmanian tiger, also known as the thylacine. They used to exist in Australia, but were constantly hunted. By the time people tried to save them, it was too late and they were extinct in the wild. The last known Tasmanian tiger died in the Hobart Zoo in 1933.
