During this process, amoeba captures and engulf whole food particle with the help of pseudopodia.

Pseudopodia encircle and engulf the whole food particle.

The food is then digested in a food vacuole where different digestive enzymes break down the food into simpler compounds.

The digested food is then absorbed in the cytoplasm by simple diffusion.

The waste material or undigested food is then excreted out with the help of food vacuole in a similar fashion as occurred in exocytosis.
