Betty, Max, Robert and Luke were all given 7 Easter eggs each. Betty stepped on two of hers, Max gave 5 of his away to his parent, Robert broke 4 of his and Luke ate all but one of his. At the end of the day, assuming all of the children ate all the eggs that were whole, how many eggs were consumed between the children?

Number of eggs she stepped on = 2

Number of eggs eaten = 7 - 2 = 5


Max:

Original number of eggs = 7

Number of eggs given away = 5

Number of eggs eaten = 7 - 5 = 2


Robert:

Original number of eggs = 7

Number of eggs broken = 4

Number of eggs eaten = 7 - 4 = 3


Luke:

Original number of eggs = 7

Number of eggs not eaten = 1

Number of eggs eaten = 7 - 1 = 6


Find the total number of eggs eaten:

Total = 5 + 2 + 3 + 6 = 16

I.e

For Betty =(7-2, that she stepped on)=5,therefore Betty consumed 5 eggs.

Max=7-5=2,

Robert =7-4=3

Luke =7-1=6.
