From the eighteenth century, the population increased immediately. In1750 and 1900, it progressed over four times, rising from 7 million in 1750 to 21 million in 1850 and 30 million in 1900.

To sustain the growing population, Landlords enclosed up to the pasturelands, formed up public fields, cut up forest commons, took over swamps, and utilized larger and larger areas into farming fields.

Change in the cultivation further contributed to expanding production. Farmers were able to improve their property, decrease costs and propose new farming methods.

Impact of landholdings

The original holdings expanded as the smaller holdings were now available for purchase and investment.

Regular work became possible for the landless agrarian workers instead of seasonal work.

Both food fertility and quality improved, helping the people overall. This ultimately led to the majority of municipalities and the industrial revolution.
