Between undp and the the World bank report. Why undp more reliable than two
Answers
Answer:
i) UNDP measures development on the parameters of education, health and per capita income whereas World Bank measures the same only on the basis of per capita income. ... iii) UNDP has a broader framework to measure development whereas World Bank has a narrow framework to measure the same.
The difference between the UNDP report and the World Bank report are:
REPORT PREPARED BY UNDP:
- The report is called Human Development Report.
- It uses HDI as the criteria to measure development.
- It divided the countries into 3- Least developed countries, developing countries, developed countries.
- It comprises economic, health and educational factors.
REPORT PREPARED BY WORLD BANK:
- The report is called the World Development report.
- It uses PCI as the criterion.
- It divides the countries into: Low-income countries, middle income countries and rich countries.
- It consists of only economic factors.
UNDP report is more reliable as it uses HDI to measure development, unlike World Bank reports which use PCI to measure development. PCI hides disparities and does not focus on equitable distribution, the health status and the educational status of the population. While, HDI provides a wider framework inculcating both social and economic indicators.
