The negative sign indicates that the image is inverted .And m> 1 so the image must be enlarged.Thus to obtain the magnification of  '-3' the object should be placed between C and F of the concave mirror . The image will be beyond C which  will be enlarged ,real and inverted .

b) The object should be placed between P and F to get a magnified image of 2.5.

c)  The object should be placed beyond C  and  infinity to get an image  of -0.4 magnification.
