जनवरी 1915 में गांधीजी दक्षिण अफ्रीका से भारत लौट आए। इससे पहले उन्होंने दक्षिण अफ्रीका में शोषण, अन्याय एवं रंगभेद की नीति के विरुद्ध सत्याग्रह आंदोलन किया था। इसमें उन्हें सफलता मिली थी।
