More the species richness, more will be the diversity, more will be the productivity.

I am giving a simple example to make you understand.

Generally the cat feeds on the mouse. If the species diversity is less and mouse dies , the cat also will die as it will have no other alternative as food. But if the species richness is more, the cat can feed upon the milk produced by the cow.

In other words, more is the species richness, more will be the survival strength of that area and it's productivity will also be more.

But in the area where species richness is less, the species of that area will slowly start dying and in turn the productivity will also fall.
