A total number of 20 banks were nationalised during the two rounds of nationalisation. In first round 14 banks were nationalised in the year 1969 and during the second round 6other banks were nationalised in 1980. Out of 6 banks of round second, New Bank Of India was merged with PNB in 1993 and the number of Nationalised banks left were 19. So at present there are only 19 nationalised banks and on RBI website too, the banks which were Nationalised during those two rounds are still the same in number.
