Dr. Ambedkar founded the Bharatiya Bahishkrit Shikshan Prasarak Mandal in Maharashtra around the mid twentieth century. The main objective of this institution was to spread education among the Dalits, because Ambedkar considered education to be a significant tool for developing self confidence among the Dalits and for promoting their welfare.
