Bhogi is the first day of the four day pongal festival . According to our calender normally bhogi is celebrated on January 13 but sometimes it lies on 14th January . According to Tamil calender it's the last day of margazhi month .

It is a festival celebrated widely in Tamil nadu , Telangana , Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.

On bhogi people discard old things and concentrate on New things causing change .

At dawn , people light a bonfire with logs of wood
and other solid fuels or furniture that are no longer useful at home.
