When Bholi was very little, she fell of the cot and injured her brain. she even suffered through small pox due to which she had pock  marks all over her face. due to this she had neither beauty nor intelligence.

But, when she started getting educated she was able to read and talk and soon she would be educated more than anyone else in the village, due to which no one would ever make fun of her again. Because of this her heart was overflowing with new hope and new life.
