Bholi was a neglected child. There were many reasons behind it. She was the youngest daughter of Numberdar Ramlal. When she was just ten months old, she had fallen off a coat which had affected her brain. As a result, she remained backward. At the age of two a severe attack of small-pox that had disfigured her badly. She learnt to speak quite late, at the age of five. And when she spoke, she stammered. Though her name was sulekha, everyone just called her Bholi.
